BLACK MUSIC MATTERS VIRTUAL SUMMIT 2020

"Black music is a reflection of Black life. You can’t talk about Black life without Black music. That’s why Black Music Matters. This is our life. This is our way of being." - Adrian Dunn

This is why Black Music Matters.

Black Music Matters exists to advocate for Black artists in institutional spaces & in the public at large. We create awareness in broader society of the challenges that Black artists have faced throughout history and currently, and celebrate our successes. By exposing the problem to the public, we will shepherd disruption in education and on the stage.

Black Music Matters aims to spawn and support Black owned companies. We will create space for Black Musicians. We amplify the voices that have not been heard. We mobilize Black artists, and all artists fighting to end anti-Blackness and white supremacy in our industry and education systems. We will fight to change policy across the industry in order to give Black and brown artists greater upward mobility. From producers to supernumeraries; board members to make-up artists - We must be represented in every aspect of the industry. We will form a group of advocates to lobby for us so we can speak specifically to the issues that impact us locally, nationally, and globally.

Black Music Matters exists to celebrate black music, reclaim our stuff, and abolish white supremacy in the music industry.
